EEX – EPEX policy paper: A market reform driven by collaboration, transparency and investment can bring sustainable change
Since the beginning of the energy crisis, the wholesale electricity market has reflected the stress of the underlying gas supply scarcity, resulting in very high wholesale electricity prices. Thus, the market must be optimised to make it fit-for-purpose for vulnerable end- and industrial consumers, and for the EU decarbonisation trajectory.
We as EPEX SPOT in cooperation with EEX would like to contribute from our first-hand experience of operating on the electricity markets to further complement and optimise the existing electricity market design. Our new policy paper lays out our recommendations regarding the spot and forward markets.
We believe that through collaboration, transparency and investment, a sustainable and consumer-oriented change in energy markets is possible.
