EPEX SPOT and ECC reduce lead-time on Austrian, French and Swiss Intraday markets

Bern / Leipzig / Paris / Vienna, 05 February 2018. The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT and the clearing house European Commodity Clearing (ECC) successfully reduced the lead-time to five minutes before delivery for local Austrian and French contracts, and to 30 minutes before delivery for local Swiss contracts. The lead-time reduction from previously 30 minutes for Austria and France, and from 60 minutes for Switzerland, was implemented on 31 January on the respective continuous markets. The lead-time for cross-border trades remains unchanged at 60 minutes.

In intraday trading, lead-time refers to the minimum time between the execution of a trade and the delivery of the traded electricity. With these measures, EPEX SPOT and ECC facilitate the portfolio management of customers active on the intraday markets. This extension of the trading window allows for more trading opportunities closer to real time.
