Monthly Power Trading Results June 2024

Amsterdam / Berlin / Bern / Brussels / London / Paris / Vienna,  9 July 2024

  • A total volume of 73.7 TWh was traded on EPEX SPOT markets in June 2024 (June 2023: 57.7 TWh).

EPEX Day-Ahead™

  • Power trading on the Day-Ahead markets on EPEX SPOT accounted for 55,137.0 GWh (June 2023: 44,057.7 GWh).

EPEX Intraday™

  • On the EPEX SPOT Intraday markets, a total volume of 18,606.2 GWh was traded (June 2023: 13,624.3 GWh).
  • The newly launched SIDC Intraday Auctions reached an aggregated volume of 905.5 GWh.

EPEX Origin™

  • In June 2024, 269.9 GWh were traded on the monthly auction for Guarantees of Origin.

EPEX Capacity™

  • In June 2024, 16.4 GW were traded on the monthly auction for France Capacity Market.

Furthermore, EPEX SPOT launched SIDC Intraday Auctions (IDAs), along with Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Moreover, the members of the recently elected EPEX SPOT Exchange Council discussed the potential replacement of the so-called Second Auction procedure with a bolstered version of the Second Calculation process.

Please note that volumes are calculated by using the common industry standard in electricity and exchange business: For auction trading, the one-sided Market Clearing Volume is listed. For continuous trading, the aggregated sell & buy volume is divided by 2.

In June, EPEX SPOT welcomed Current Commodities A/S, HB Trading S.p.A., Krogsgaard Commodities ApS, NGEN d.o.o., rhenag -  Rheinische Energie Aktiengesellschaft, and Volta Energy Designated Activity Company as new members to the Exchange.
