Videoconference with the German Federal Chancellor
Paris, 19 August 2010 – Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) today. Together with a delegation comprising Federal Environment Minister Norbert Röttgen, Prime Minister of the Free State of Saxony Stanislaw Tillich and Mayor of the City of Leipzig Burkhard Jung she got acquainted with the exchange on site.
Part of the programme of the Federal Chancellor’s visit was a conversation with Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Chief Executive Officer of EPEX Spot SE, in Paris via a permanent video-conference in the EPEX Spot Market Supervision. EPEX Spot operates the Power Spot Markets for Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.

The product range of EPEX Spot SE encompasses spot power trading (day ahead and intraday) for France, Germany/Austria and Switzerland. Together these countries account for more than one third of the European power consumption.
